President Trump to Speak to Farm Bureau Convention

When President Donald Trump spoke at the 99th Annual American Farm Bureau Federation Convention in Nashville last year he told the crowd, “100 is so much cooler…so I’ll be back.”  The President is keeping that promise.

As first reported by the New Orleans Advocate, Trump will be making a return trip to the Farm Bureau convention, speaking to the body’s closing session on Monday in New Orleans. USDA Secretary Sonny Perdue is also scheduled to speak in the same session.

While the Farm Bureau invites the sitting president to its convention every year, it is somewhat rare for a president to appear. Trump’s 2018 appearance was the first by a sitting president since 1992 when George H.W. Bush addressed the convention in Kansas City.

President Trump will likely address implementation of the just-passed farm bill, his pending trade agreement with Canada and Mexico as well as other trade issues and the ongoing dispute over the budget and border security.
